What is transparent watercolor?
I started using transparent watercolors, but I had no idea what they were. I remember using them in elementary, middle, and high school, but I have no memory of learning them. In other words, I don't really understand the rules.
The fake banana
I started going to a painting class and my sketching skills were getting pretty good, so I got carried away and started watercolor painting. The teacher seemed to specialize in oil painting, but I don't like the smell and dirt of oil.
Figs with fluorescent pink points
I tried drawing this at home. It seems that the key to watercolors is the "blurring" and "smearing." It's like I'm deliberately trying to create that. If I were to write a haiku with a brush pen, it would end up being a "picture letter," but I don't like that.
Analog < Digital
I scanned the original drawing and edited it in Illustrator. Isn't this one better?
What's difficult about watercolors is that it's hard to judge, or rather, it's hard to understand what's going on. But I've realized one thing. I think my standard for judging is whether or not I can show it to people. The pictures above are pretty much passable. Now, I'll show you some that don't pass the pass mark.
Sweet potatoes
This is pretty embarrassing. I was drawing this in an art class, but halfway through, the teacher said, "You shouldn't be too persistent with watercolors," so I stopped. But actually, I really wanted to draw the potato whiskers with a black pen, so I quickly added them when I got home. Maybe thanks to this, I'm not as embarrassed anymore. Now I can show it to you like this. Before I drew the whiskers, I wanted to die.
What I want to say is that I am quite shy. I am amazed that I am able to make and sell my own accessories.
However, I realized that every single one of Tamarusan's products is something I can proudly show to others, there's not the slightest bit of embarrassment, and they're just "amazingly amazing." The key to judging this is whether or not you can show it to others. Realizing that was a big benefit. I'm glad I gave my poor watercolors a try.
Mallotus japonicus
My collection of illustrations will be up soon. They are all things I can publish, so they are all "amazing!" I don't have any watercolors yet, but I'd like to practice and put some good ones on this page.
