Summer Vacation in Toyama Prefecture

Summer Vacation in Toyama Prefecture

The other day, I went to Toyama Prefecture for my summer vacation. I just wanted to head north, thinking it would be cooler there. That said, last year I went to Fukushima expecting cooler weather, but it ended up being hot—really hot. So I was wondering how it would turn out this year, but with mostly rainy and cloudy days, it wasn't hot at all.

Since it was rainy, I decided to visit a place where sightseeing is easy even in bad weather—the aquarium!

Here is a stingray with a stylish polka-dot pattern.
It was relatively small.

I didn't know what this one was at first, but I took a photo because it had lovely colors and a cool polka-dot-like pattern. After looking it up, I found out it’s a porcupinefish!

This aquarium is a bit unusual—above each tank, they introduce the fish, shellfish, and shrimp inside as sushi ingredients! I wasn't quite sure how to take that. Should I be thinking, "Mmm, looks delicious!" or something?

Lastly, here is the coral tank. The real thing is even more beautiful than in the photo. It's amazing to know there are such gorgeous corals in the ocean—it looks just like a flower field.

In Toyama, fish dishes were the main highlights, and everything I ate was delicious. What stood out the most was the White Shrimp Kakiage (tempura fritter) Burger. Surprisingly, tempura fritters and bread go so well together! I'd love to eat it again.
